My Major
My major is Human Biology. When I graduated high school I applied to schools with the intention of being a biology major. My freshman year of college I switched my major to human biology. I decided this knowing I was on the medical track and wanting to go to grad school. This major offers a deeper understanding of the physiological, anatomical, and biochemical processes that make up the human body. This is essential for a career in the medical field and patient care. In contrast, a general biology major provides more of an overview of the biology of life.
My career goal is to being a Physician Assistant in either cardiology or pediatrics. Both fields align with my passion for helping others feel better and making a positive impact on their lives. I have always been intrigued by the study of the heart, and I am eager to contribute to the care and treatment of individuals who might have heart conditions. Additionally, I have a deep love for working with children, which has been cultivated through experiences such as babysitting, working at a restaurant targeted towards kids, and teaching swim lessons. I believe I can use my compassion and patience to help children navigate the often-scary experience of visiting the doctor. I'd be able to do this by providing them with comfort during their visit and reassurance throughout their appointment. No matter which field I might go into, I am dedicated to using my skills and empathetic personality to improve the well-being of my patients.
